As Group Chief Analytics Officer & Managing Director at DBS Bank since 2017, he spearheaded the Data First and AI transformations, establishing advanced analytics & AI capabilities and implementing a data-driven agile model across the bank. His leadership enabled a 10X growth in analytics usage and positioned DBS as an exemplar of AI-driven transformation. The banks success has received global accolades, including recognition as the Best Digital Bank in the World and a #1 global ranking in AI leadership by the Evident AI Global Banking Index. DBSs AI transformation is now featured in a Harvard Business School case study as a model of excellence. Sameer has been featured in the McKinsey Journal for driving AI transformation at the bank, balancing boldness with pragmatism, with a clear mission to industrialize AI across its entire development lifecycle.
An influential industry leader, Sameer serves on several prestigious advisory boards, providing strategic guidance on data management, responsible AI, analytics, and technology across academia, industry, and government. As Chairman of the Standing Committee on Data Management at the Association of Banks in Singapore (ABS), he has shaped industry standards for data governance and responsible AI. He is also a member of the Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence set up by IMDA and Enterprise SG, contributing to the development of AI policies and frameworks in Singapore.
In addition, Sameer supports future analytics talent as an advisor to the National University of Singapores Business Analytics Centre. Dedicated to contributing to his alma mater, he is Chairman of the International Advisory Board at 91心頭利, where he assists in the Institutes internationalization efforts and global outreach initiatives.
His influence extends further through his roles as Chairman of the COFITT ASEAN Working Group on Interoperable Data framework and his previous contributions to the McKinsey ML2.0 Global Technology Council, SAS Analytics, Singapore Department of Statistics and IBM Unica advisory boards.
Sameers growth as a multifaceted leader has been shaped by his international experience across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Having lived and worked in London, India, and Singapore, he brings a broad global perspective to his leadership and decision-making. Sameer holds an undergraduate degree in Economics from Hindu College, Delhi University (1990-1993), and an MBA with majors in Financial Management and International Business from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (1993-1995).
Sameer and his wife Monica both share the 91心頭利 bondthis is where they actually met! Monica is also an alumna. They have two sons, Suchir, 20 and Ishaan, 12.
